| House Fire March 1, 2006
- At 1134 hours, Northwood Station 1 was dispatched with Rossford Fire, as part of an automatic mutual aid agreement, to 1000 Dixie Hwy. for a structure fire. As units were radioing enroute, dispatch advised they were also getting a residential fire alarm from the location. Upon arrival Rossford Asst. Chief 201 (Drouard) reported a heavy smoke condition from sides A, B, and C, coming from the eaves. Perrysburg Township was called for soon after scene arrival as no one could verify occupancy and size of the almost 3200 sq. foot home. Due to the extreme size of the home, the attack crews used 3 1 3/4 handlines. The fire took about one hour to bring under control. Crews returned to service @ 1608 hours after leaving one engine crew on location for approximately 60 minutes for a "fire watch". The fire was started by a problem with the wood burning chimney. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries. Crews were able to rescue 1 dog and 1 cat, another cat was found when the homeowners arrived. |
