| MCI- MVA on Turnpike August 12, 2005
August 12, 2005 - Northwood Station 1 responded on a Mutual Aid call with Rossford Fire & Rescue to the Westbound side of the Ohio Turnpike at the 64 mile marker shortly before 2:15 PM for an injury accident. The accident occurred near an overpass, involving 6 vehicles including one semi truck. The driver of one car was trapped for close to 15 minutes while the crew of Rossford Rescue Engine 790 worked to free him using the "Jaws of Life". An air ambulance from St. Vincent/UMC Life Flight was requested by Incident Commander Rossford Asst. Chief Josh Drouard. Two passengers were transported by Northwood Unit 804, which was dispatched along with 807 and Engine (unit) 806. Northwood 807 transported ALS with a Rossford Medic on board. Rossford Medic 798 also transported one patient, with Perrysburg Twp 99 transporting 2 patients, for a total of 7 patients transported, with one DOA. The Ohio Highway Patrol is still investigating the cause of this accident. Units responding to this incident were: Northwood - Squads 804 & 807, Engine (Unit) 806 |
