4th Annual Northwood Fire Fighters Memorial 5k Run/ 1 mile fun walk. Sponsored by the Northwood Fire Fighters Association to benefit the Northwood Fire Fighters Memorial fund and Northwood Fire Fighters Injury Prevention and Support fund. Proceeds are used to assist in the continued construction and maintenance of the Fire Fighters Memorial and to fund the NFFIPS to ensure fire fighter health and wellness and prevent injuries, while providing support in the unfortunate event that one of our own should be injured on the job.

The event host a 5k run and 1 mile family fun walk, with awards to the top three male and female runners in 7 separate age groups. The run is the featured event of our annual Open House for the public which includes rides for the children, food and games through out the day free for all who attend.

Following the Run and Open House The Fire Fighters Association & Ladies Auxiliary will host a Texas hold 'em tournament, chicken BBQ dinner and DJ entertainment for the evening. This all day event is sure to have something for everyone to do! Come on out and enjoy the day with your Fire fighters and the rest of the community.

May 22nd 2011- Station 1 Ladies Auxillary will be hosting a Chicken Paprikas Dinner at Station 1, 2100 Tracy Rd. from Noon-5pm unless sold out. Limited Carry Outs available.

May 14th 2011- Northwood Fire Department will be holding a Reverse Raffle on Saturday May 14th at the Local 50 Hall at 7570 Caple Blvd in Northwood. Tickets are on sale now: $30.00 per Ticket admits 2 Adults, (21 & Over), Food And Refreshments provided. $1000.00 Grand Prize. 200 Tickets to be sold. April 20 2011- The Hiring Freeze has been lifted for the Fire Department. If interested and meet the requirements listed in the Employment section of this site, stop by the City offices, 6000 Wales Rd. and ask for an application

October 30th 2010- Station 1 will be holding the annual Halloween Parade. Line up for Parade is at 11:45 am at Brentwood Park, Parade ends at Station 1, 2100 Tracy. Join us at the Station for costume judging and refreshments. In the event of rain parade my be cancelled however the festivities at the Station will continue.

October is Fire Prevention Month. This is a great time to check your smoke detectors and review your family fire escape plans. Also, check your dryer vents, According to the National Fire Prevention Association, dryer fires account for over 17,000 fires resulting in millions of dollars in property damage, deaths and injuries each year. Failure to clean dryer vents was cited as the leading factor contributing to clothes dryer fires in residential buildings.
